MANSFIELD – Three more inmates from Richland Correctional Institution (RiCI) have died in recent days, raising the death toll among inmates to six.

All six have died this month amid an outbreak of the novel coronavirus among the prison’s inmates and staff members that began in mid-September.

A 72-year-old man, whose identity is being withheld until his next of kin is notified, died Friday at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

He was admitted to RiCI in 2005 after being sentenced in Montgomery County on aggravated robbery, felonious assault, armed robbery charges.
