In LAS VEGAS A pair of pilots killed in a mid-air collision while fighting a Southern Nevada fire last month have been identified.

 According to the Bureau of Land Management, The pilots were Scott Thomas, 64, and David Blake Haynes, 62, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

The collision involving two Department of the Interior-contracted Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) happened July 30 near the Bishop Fire – 17 miles southwest of Caliente.

One of two firefighting planes that collided above Nevada may have been hit by retardant dropped by the other one shortly before they crashed, according to a preliminary accident report.
